Christmas Season

Well, it's almost Christmas and I can definately feel the magic in the air! Justin and I are getting ready to celebrate our second Christmas together. We have the green lights around the door, our stockings are hung, the tree towers above our head with the oddest assortment of ornaments one could imagine and the advent calendars fill our tummies nightly. Ah, the joys of the holiday season!

It all started when our family went up to NYC to see the world famous Rockettes. It was a lot of fun because we got to experience it with mom who had always dreamed of the trip. We got up there a day after they had put up the Rockefeller Tree so there was still planks up so they could decorate, but it was still awesome to finally see it live. That night we went to the show and sat in awe at the eye-high kicks, costumes, and sparkles. If you didn't feel the spirit of Christmas then you truly are a real life Scrooge! I hope we can do it again!!

The beginning of this month was, of course, Dickens. I absolutely love going to it because the town becomes so magical; thrown back to one of my favorite literary eras. It's amazing to see everyone, locals and tourists alike, come together to experience this. And who can forget the smells from street vendors that linger in the air. And this year was especially nice because Justin finally got to walk around with me for a little bit!!!

Then yesterday Justin and I went up to make our Christmas ornaments. We go up to the Corning Glass Museum and blow our own ornaments. This is our second year doing it and we plan to make it a yearly tradition, which my parents have now gotten in to. This year we had new ribbed ones and he did clear while I had a ruby gold one, made with real gold :-D Then we also went out with my parents and Aunt Ernie and Uncle Clint to celebrate our first year anniversary (a few months late), their 40th anniversary (a few days early) and my dad's new full-time job (right on time!).

And what does the last week hold? Well, Friday night is the Christmas Jamboree for the preschool. This is my favorite time of year to be working with the children because the feel is so palpable and it just grows as the day nears. Everyday I hear about what Santa is bringing and the carols from the children's lips are hilarious to hear. It's just such a time of innocence that it makes me feel good to have that little faith in the impossible. I can't wait for Fri. because I'm QUITE interested to see how the kids do in their play and to see if any of them fall off the fairly tall stage in front of 60 parents ha.

Then of course is Christmas Eve at Justin's parents' house. And Christmas Eve service, although I'm not happy about the presents we have to open for the church. After that is Christmas morning at our own place, followed by my parents, dinner at my grandma's, and then after it is all said and done, bringing EVERYONE (yes all 5 people) up to fill our tiny place to the rafters :-)

With all that, Justin and I want to wish each and everyone of you a very Merry Christmas! Keep the spirit and innocence of believing in Santa Claus (just like me hehe), but continue to remember that the best present we have all recieved for Christmas is the birth of our Saviour, and the REAL reason for the season. God Bless!

Getting Ready

Justin and I are getting ready. Getting ready for what? Well, for our first ever wedding anniversary (!) and for our yearly vacation.

On the 21st, we are leaving to go to Penn State to visit my friend Shonna and to see the comedian Jeff Dunham in person. We're really excited since he is our absolute favorite! The next morning we are going to drive down to Pittsubrgh to visit our friends, Sarah and David.

(*Sorry about the pic...I'm new to this and just trying out different aspects of it*)

So, when we're in Pitts. we're going to basically just spend the day at the zoo. And to celebrate our anniversary with them, we're going to go out to supper at a Japanese steakhouse. That night we will leave to go to Baltimore. Basically, we'll be going to Poe's grave and stopping by Charm City Cakes as well as going to an aquarium which I hear is really good. Then on Wed. we'll be going to Amish country and hopefully stopping by to see Penny and give her the baby present. Thurs and most of Fri. will be spent in Philadelphia. We're going to see the Rocky statue and eat at Geno's in honor of Justin's birthday! Also, we're going to see the Rodin, LOVE and possibly clothespin statue. Hehe and go on a Duck ride and ghost walk. Oh and the best is going to see the haunted prison of Eastern State Penitentiary. Then we might get to see Jenn that night and maybe on Sat.
We're really excited to be able to take this trip and get to spend some extra time with each other without the worries of work and time limits and, basically, reality. Plus, with my new camera that Justin got me for an early Christmas present I can take some amazing pics that will definately be posted up here for all to enjoy!
xoxo

Our First Blog

Justin and I decided that it would be fun to have this blog. There is a lot of new stuff that's going to start happening in our lives and we thought it would be nice to be able to share it with our friends and family.

Justin is keeping busy with his numerous jobs. He currently works for a cleaning service, as a lead cook at Pizza Hut and, to top it all off, he has a computer repair business which my family alone continuously supports :-) Justin is also working on scrapbooking some of our more memorable moments. I'm glad I have him for that since I can't do things like that.

My life has also been blessed recently by my work. I am a preschool teacher at a center called Stepping Stones. I am lucky enough to enjoy my co-workers and the children I see each day. Starting in the fall I'll have a raise and be working 40 hours a week. That can be a lot with 30 children each week but we're going to need it if our plans continue. Also, on my spare time (if you can call it that) I make quilts. Since Jan. I have made about eight quilts with two that were ordered. And I am making an ordered full sized cat quilt now for Justin's boss, who has previously bought one as well. I love picking out the unique fabrics and then seeing the final product. Any orders can be taken for any size :-P

We have decided that in a few weeks we are going to be searching for our very first home. Currently, we are in our Barbie Doll apartment, which I hate to admit but I actually really like, but we feel that it is time to begin searching for a home of our very own.

Also, we are working on planning some trips for this fall. Justin and I are going to do a driving tour of Southern PA and possibly up into NJ to visit my sister and then we also have a Christmas mystery trip with Justin's mom in Dec. Then there are a few lil trips thrown in here and there. I love travelling and am really excited to be able to visit these new places with the people that I love.

Well, I guess that's all for the first post. We have to get ready to go to Justin's aunt's house. She's having a summer picnic and you know what that means...FOOD!
